Classical music

CD Trustee will automatically catalog most Classical CDs. CD Trustee simply reflects the data that is contained in the CDDB2 database, owned by a company called Gracenote. The CDDB database is the oldest and largest of this kind in the world, by far. You will find more Classical albums in there than in any other database of this kind. However I doubt the average lookup percent will be as high (98 or 99 percent) as it is for Rock music.

Information specific to Classical music seldom exists in the CDDB Internet database, although the albums, artists, and song titles do. When this Classical-specific information does exist, it is sometimes in the album notes field or song titles.

There are plenty of Classical music buffs who use CD Trustee. Those customers tell me they have not found any other program like CD Trustee that is targeted specifically for Classical music. Some of them have spoken to the Gracenote/CDDB folks about Classical music. Because of the sheer size of the database, any specific effort to manually add new fields to the existing Classical entries is an enormous task.

There are Composer and Conductor fields in CD Trustee and they will be automatically populated (at the album level only) if this information exists in the CDDB Internet database. There is also a Composer field at the track level, but this is not automatically populated since this data seldom exists in the CDDB Internet database. However, you can manually add this additional information at both the album and track level, and then do searches by Composer. There are also two additional searchable fields that can be used for anything you want.
