Artist name for each track of a compilation album |
|
|
CD Trustee has an artist name field for each track, on the Tracks screen. The CDDB database sometimes populates this field automatically, and sometimes leaves it blank. It all depends on if the original submitter of that CD took the time to fill in the artist name for each track of a compilation CD. We have no control over this. CD Trustee will grab this information if it exists. If it does not exist, you can manually enter this information for each track. The Tracks screen has a button to the right of it. When pressed, it lists all existing album artists. This helps speed data entry in some cases. Once this information exists for each track, there are at least two ways to find songs by the "track artists", as we call them. 1.) Click on the CD Trustee "Find" menu, and choose "Find All Songs by an Artist". This will display a report listing all songs by the artist you specify, along with the album title, track number, and song duration. You can view or print this report. This report lists all songs on any album by that artist, in addition to the individual songs by that artist on any compilation albums you have, as long as the track artist name is filled in for a track. 2.) Click on the "Filter" menu in CD Trustee. Depending on the version of CD Trustee, this will either take you to the Filter screen or you will have to choose "Specify filtering criteria" from the Filter menu. On the Filter screen, type any part of the artist name in the long text box near the middle of that screen, and click on the "Artist Name" field below it. Press the OK button, and only albums containing any song by that artist will be displayed in the main list. Press the "Re-sort" button on the main screen to display all artists and albums again.
